Adam Sandler’s sequel to his 90s cult classic “Happy Gilmore” is officially available for streaming on Netflix.

Many fans of “Happy Gilmore” have expressed concern over whether or not “Happy Gilmore 2” will live up to hype of the original movie, since comedy movie sequels tend to fall flat on audiences.

Here is a list of comedy sequels that didn’t quite capture the magic of their original films:

1. Caddyshack II (1988)

Almost none of the original cast returned, and the anarchic humor was replaced by a sanitized, PG-rated mess. It lacks the sharp writing and comic timing that made the first a cult classic.

2. Dumb And Dumber To (2014)

Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels reunited 20 years after the beloved original, but the magic didn’t come back with them. Many fans found it mean-spirited and lacking the goofy innocence that made the original so funny.

3. Blues Brothers 2000 (1998)

With John Belushi gone, this sequel never stood a chance. Dan Aykroyd tried to recapture the spirit of the original, but the humor felt outdated and awkward. Adding a child sidekick and unnecessary CGI made it feel like a strange parody of the classic rather than a proper continuation.

4. Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues (2013)

While some fans enjoyed it, many felt that it lacked the tightness and quotability of the original. It was criticized for repeating jokes and overstaying its welcome with a runtime that pushed two hours.

5. Legally Blonde 2 Red, White & Blonde (2003)

Although Reese Witherspoon returned, the script didn’t deliver. The sharp wit and character-driven humor of the original gave way to political clichés and a forced storyline about animal rights legislation.
