Free Drinks for Indy First Responders on July 24

INDIANAPOLIS — First responders in Indianapolis deal with tough situations every day and put in long hours to keep the community safe.
Today, a few local convenience stores are offering free coffee and drinks to say thanks as part of the nationwide 24/7 Day campaign.
Hoosier first responders can get free drinks at Casey’s, which is offering any-size coffee or fountain drinks to first responders and active military.
Fas Mart is giving away free coffee or fountain drinks with a valid badge or ID. RaceTrac is offering free fountain drinks, frozen beverages, or coffee, verified through ID.me. Thorntons is also giving free coffee or fountain drinks, and Village Pantry is providing the same to police, fire, and EMT personnel with proper ID.
While the free drinks are a nice gesture, some wonder if that’s really enough for those who risk their lives daily. The campaign is meant to raise awareness and offer a small thank-you, but the discussion about how to better support first responders is ongoing.
Angie Ryan, manager at Casey’s in Rockville, Indiana, was named First Responder of the Year by the NACS Foundation for her life-saving aid to customers showing heart attack symptoms twice since 2023.
Casey’s will honor her with the award during her manager training on Thursday, July 24. She’ll receive a certificate and $500 from Keurig Dr Pepper, and the Marshall Volunteer Fire Department will get a $1,000 donation in her name.
The NACS Foundation, which organizes this campaign, works with members and partners on five main programs. These focus on issues important to convenience store members and their communities — helping children and families facing illnesses, supporting first responders and disaster relief, investing in education and job opportunities, fighting hunger, and keeping communities clean and welcoming.
