Several Shootings Under Investigation in Indy

INDIANAPOLIS — Families and friends of those impacted by Saturday morning’s shooting say they are just trying to cope with everything.
However, Saturday’s mass shooting in downtown Indy is not the only act of violence that has police concerned.
The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department is investigating several shootings that happened Saturday evening into Sunday morning.
Officers say a woman was shot on East Michigan Street, near North Chester and North Grant Avenues, on Indy’s east side, Saturday before 6:45 p.m. She was initially in critical condition but is now stable. No suspects have been reported.
Early Sunday, a man was shot during an attempted carjacking on the east side of Indianapolis. IMPD arrived at the Shell Gas Station on East New York Street, near North Sherman Drive and North Bradley Avenue, after 12:30 a.m. Police say a driver shot the man to prevent the carjacking. The man was taken to a hospital in critical condition. Officers say the driver was taken downtown for an interview, and police are working to obtain surveillance video from the gas station.
A few minutes later, near the northeast side of Indianapolis, one man died and another was injured in a shooting. IMPD arrived on Roosevelt Avenue, near Holloway Avenue and Ingram Street, before 1 a.m., finding both men on the front porch of a home. The man injured in the shooting is stable. No suspects have been reported for that shooting either.
If you have any information about the shootings, you can contact Crime Stoppers at 317-262-TIPS (8477).
