STATEWIDE — The state has cooled down this week and hasn’t been as hot as last week, but the heat is still not done with you.

“The state will be seeing highs near 90 or low 90s through the weekend,” Matt Eckhoff, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Indianapolis says. “A high of 91 is expected Saturday and Sunday.”

Eckhoff says this weekend is expected to bring the hottest temperatures for the extended forecast in Indiana. He added a weak cold front, showers, and storms are possible late Sunday.

“Those factors might cool the state down into the mid to upper 80s by Monday and Tuesday before it starts warming up later in the week,” Eckhoff says. “It’s hard to say exactly how much rain will fall in Indiana, but if a storm comes by, there could be up to an inch.”

Eckhoff advises what to do to stay safe the heat.

“Find areas where you have access to air conditioning, drink plenty of water, and limit physical activity outside,” he says. “Keeping hydrated and limiting your time in the heat are extremely important.”
