STATEWIDE–It’s been less humid in Indiana lately than it was in previous weeks, but Jason Puma with the National Weather Service in Indianapolis says that’s about to change.

“The high-pressure system that’s been bringing us this cooler weather is about to move to our east. As that happens, winds are going to return out of the south and that will bring a return of warmer and more humid weather to central Indiana,” said Puma.

But he also emphasizes that the entire state is going to be impacted by hot temperatures and heat indices in the triple digits.

“On Thursday, most of the state will have highs around 90. On the 4th of July, many places will get a high around 91. On Saturday and Sunday, we’ll see highs in the lower 90s,” said Puma.

Puma says he doesn’t see any days in the 70s or lower 80s anytime soon.

“We’re just in the warmer parts of our summer time season here in Indiana. Our normal high for this time of year is 86. That’s about par for the course,” said Puma.

He also emphasized the need for you to stay hydrated and take frequent breaks if you work outside. The heat index values will often be in the triple digits when temperatures get into the 90 degree range.
