Summer Starts with a Stretch of Heat

INDIANAPOLIS — Summer officially begins today, and the heat is coming with it.
Friday will be the last day with highs in the 80s. Starting Saturday, temperatures will jump into the 90s and stay there through much of next week.
The day starts off mostly sunny, but clouds may build later in the afternoon. A stray shower is possible as a weakening system moves in from Illinois. Most areas will stay dry. Highs top out near 86 with some humidity.
Overnight, expect partly cloudy skies and muggy air with lows around 70.
A heat advisory begins Saturday and lasts through Tuesday. Afternoon highs will stay in the lower 90s, and with the humidity, it will feel closer to 100 degrees or more.
That pattern holds into next week. A ridge of high pressure will sit over much of the eastern U.S., keeping conditions hot and sticky through at least midweek.
Health experts recommend staying cool, drinking plenty of water, and avoiding too much time outside in the afternoon. It’s also a good idea to check on neighbors, especially those without air conditioning.
