Hogsett Responds to Scandal at Chamber Event

INDIANAPOLIS –Mayor Joe Hogsett briefly addressed the sexual harassment scandal involving his administration during an Indy Chamber event Wednesday.
Asked whether the scandal had damaged the city’s reputation, Hogsett said he didn’t believe so, citing “record accomplishments” and calling the controversy a “noisy situation.”
He also called the recent removal of Lauren Roberts from a city-county council meeting “regrettable.” Roberts, who says she was harassed by Hogsett’s former aide Thomas Cook, was dragged out after exceeding her speaking time.
Several women, including Roberts, have accused Cook of harassment while working for the city and Hogsett’s campaigns.
Responding to calls for his resignation, including one from Councilor Crista Carlino, Hogsett said political rhetoric is distracting from efforts to improve workplace safety.
