9-Year-Old with Cystic Fibrosis Becomes Officer for a Day

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A local 9-year-old girl has always dreamed of becoming a police officer. Saturday, thanks to the Plainfield Police Department and Make-A-Wish Ohio, Kentucky & Indiana, that dream become a reality.
Alivia, who has cystic fibrosis, turned into a Plainfield Police Officer for the day. She got to ride in the police cars, ride the IMPD Mounted Patrol Horses, but her favorite part was the big surprise to cap it all off. Alivia put her skills to the test, solving the case of a missing book.
Her parents say the wish to be a police officer comes from having a good heart and wanting to help people in the community.
“Because I can help solve too crimes and just make the world a little bit comfortable in its place and I like the way it’s the right thing to do,” Alivia said.
The special day wasn’t just for Alivia, her parents’ gift was getting to see Alivia live out her dream job.
“It’s great watching Alivia experience this day, it’s just been an absolute blast. The support that we’ve seen and the volunteers that have come in has been overwhelming and incredible. It’s been such a blessing to see how many people have come out to make this happen,” Troy and Michelle Brown, Alivia’s parents, said.
Plainfield Police officer Rob Pritchard says it was the single greatest honor of his life having Alivia join the force.
