Drugs, Cash, and Guns Seized and Two Men Arrested

INDIANAPOLIS — The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department investigated an incident that led to seizing thousands of grams of drugs and cash, as well as many guns. They also arrested two men.
Court documents say 33-year-old Richard Watkins and 25-year-old Howard Harris Jr. were arrested Tuesday afternoon on Indy’s west side.
Watkins is facing charges of dealing and possessing drugs, including meth and a narcotic drug, possessing guns and many more.
Harris is facing charges of dealing marijuana and a controlled substance, possession with intent to distribute, and more.
“Those charges highlight that getting these guns removed from these individuals because they were illegally possessed,” says IMPD Public Information Officer Tommy Thompson.
Officers searched the home and many vehicles in the 5800 block of Westbury North Drive, and they suspected questionable activity, such as a narcotics transaction.
As police were searching in the home and vehicles, they found nine guns, around 400 grams of meth, around 350 grams of fentanyl and suboxone, over 6,000 grams of marijuana, over $34,000 in cash, and more.
“We will continue to work with the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office and ensure that these individuals are held accountable for their actions,” Thompson says.
Officer Thompson says police are doing what they can to keep everyone safe during cases like these.
“Getting these two individuals in this incident, as well as these illegally possessed firearms and large amounts of narcotics, are what keep the community safe, and officers will continue to do that,” Thompson says.
