Man Shot and Killed by Police in Michigan City

MICHIGAN CITY, Ind. — Police shot and killed a man in Michigan City after he ran from them when he was pulled over.
State Police say an officer pulled over 21-year-old Jorge Meza around 5:30 Friday evening on South Franklin Street. After Meza was pulled over, that’s when he ran off. That made the officer open fire at him.
Medics arrived at the scene and took Meza to a hospital, where he later died.
The officer was put on paid administrative leave after the shooting.
Officers are looking at surveillance video, but they said they will not give out any more information. They also did not say how many officers were involved in the shooting or why Meza was shot.
