INDIANAPOLIS — Two people on motorcycles are in bad shape after they were in crashes on Indianapolis’ east side Tuesday night.

The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department responded to the first crash around 8:00 p.m. in the 9800 block of East Washington Street, and they found the person injured in the crash. Officers say the person operating the motorcycle lost a leg, and they believe they were not wearing a helmet and had beer cans on them. The person was taken to Eskenazi Hospital.

A man on a motorcycle also crashed around 8:30 p.m. in the 700 block of South Post Road. Officers say the man wasn’t wearing a helmet either, and they believe speeding might have been the cause of the crash. However, they are investigating what was the actual cause of the crash. Officers are figuring out if drugs or alcohol were involved as well.

Officers say both of the people involved in the motorcycle crashes are both in bad shape.
