MARION COUNTY, Ind.–For 47 years, the Athletic Club Foundation has selected someone in the community who exemplifies the spirit of their Irish heritage.  Doing it through their service to the community, their family and other selfless acts that represent being Irish.  With 45 years in law enforcement, Marion County Sheriff Kerry Forestal has been selected as the “2025 Irish Citizen of the Year”.

Sheriff Forestal says he is “100% Irish and entitled to Irish Citizenship through his grandparents who emigrated to the United States from County Kerry and County Gallway.  They settled in Indianapolis.  My grandfather, Patrick White served as an Indianapolis Police Officer and my grandmother, Anna Sullivan Forestal, held the office of Center Township Trustee.  They laid the foundation for my long commitment to serving the community.”

Sheriff Forestal was elected Marion County Sheriff in 2022.  As part of this recognition, Sheriff Forestal will be recognized at the Hoosier Lottery Greening of the Canal on March 13 and participate in the Foundation’s annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade presented by Hoosier Lottery on Friday, March 14.  Festivities start at 10:00am with the Indianapolis Public Safety Foundation Parade Tent and Block Party downtown.  The Parade begins at 11:30 on North Street, between Meridian and Pennsylvania.  Indianapolis Saint Patrick’s Day | The Athletic Club Foundation
