INDIANAPOLIS –  In a move to fight opioid addiction head-on, Overdose Lifeline, based in Indianapolis, is unveiling an innovative new tool: KATE, an AI-powered chatbot. This launch coincides with Black Balloon Day, a solemn day dedicated to remembering those lost to overdose.

KATE, which stands for Knowledge, Advocacy, Trust, and Education, is designed to offer a confidential space for people to ask questions about substance abuse, harm reduction, and overdose prevention. Available in over 20 languages, the chatbot will expand its reach far beyond Indiana, providing a lifeline for anyone seeking help.

KATE offers a safe, non-judgmental space for individuals battling addiction and their families. It’s an important step toward breaking down the barriers of denial and stigma surrounding substance use.
