GREENFIELD, Ind. — Police are investigating after a 9-year-old boy died early Friday morning in Greenfield.

Officers went to a home around 3 a.m., where they found the child having some sort of “medical emergency.” They helped to perform CPR until medics arrived and took him to Hancock Regional Hospital.

Unfortunately, the boy died soon after getting to the hospital, though it is not yet clear what led to his death.

At this time, Greenfield Police have not made the boy’s name public. But, they say he was a third-grade student at Weston Elementary School, and had siblings.

If your children attend Weston Elementary, you are encouraged to help them cope, perhaps by working together with their school’s social workers and administrators.

Otherwise, you are asked to keep this boy’s family in your thoughts and prayers.
