STATEWIDE–Rain is likely to be heavy at times when it moves across Indiana Thursday and Friday. The southern portions of the state are expected to get hit the hardest.

“We expect rain to move into the southern portions of the state around 1 pm and then reach central Indiana around 5 pm or so,” said Greg Melo, meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Indianapolis.

Melo believes the rain will stick around on Friday and could be heavy at times, but he does not expect any severe weather.

“There will also be times when it will be dry, but it will also be warmer than usual,” said Melo. Temperatures are projected to be in the 40s and 50s all across Indiana.

Places down south are expected to get a little more than an inch of rain with lesser amounts the further north you go.

“No matter what, though, keep the umbrella handy. It’s been a while since we’ve had some rain, so just be ready to have the umbrella,” said Melo.
