FORT WAYNE, Ind. — State Police say a woman was shot and killed in her car in Fort Wayne Thursday around 4:40 a.m. It happened in a parking lot, which is non-secure and open to the public.
Indiana State Police Sergeant Wes Rowlader says he noticed the woman injured in her vehicle after he heard a gunshot.
“I noticed a weapon in the passenger’s seat of the vehicle, pulled the woman out of the vehicle, and tried life-saving measures,” Rowlader says.
Officers contacted Emergency Medical Services, and the woman was taken to the hospital, where she died. The woman’s name is not known at this time. No suspects were involved in this shooting.
“According to our investigators, this is going to be, what we believe, is a self-inflicted gunshot wound at this time,” Rowlader says.
