Person Killed, Arrest Made in Avon Shooting

AVON, Ind.–A person was shot and killed in Avon Wednesday night.
It happened just after 9 pm at 268 Fairmount Court, which is not far from US 36.
“Deputies arrived on scene and located a male with an apparent gunshot wound. The victim, 22-year-old Jarell Spires, was transported to IU West Hospital where he was later pronounced deceased,” said Captain Jim Yetter with the Hendricks County Sheriff’s Office.
Yetter says they eventually found a vehicle that they believe was involved in the incient. They found it in Indianapolis, questioned the person inside the vehicle, and arrested that person who has been identified as 19-year-old Boluwatife Olubanjo. Olubanjo was taken to the Hendricks County Jail.
“There are also still some other people that we need to talk to. Olubanjo is the only one we have in custody at this point, but the investigation is ongoing,” said Yetter.
