Micah Beckwith: I’m Going To Actual Real People Who Are Living Life Day By Day

The real people who are living life day by day. That's who I care about. The ivory tower elite are the people that I'm fighting against on both sides of the aisle.

Republican candidate for Lieutenant Governor, Micah Beckwith, spoke Friday with Tony Katz and the Morning News. Jennifer McCormick made a point in the Governor’s debate to call Mike Braun’s running mate “divisive”.

Beckwith:

I’m only divisive to those who want to put boys and girls sports, boys and girls restrooms, who think that tampon should go in boys bathrooms, that want to open up the borders.

Indiana liberal media and McCormick have been hammering the idea that Beckwith is “extreme” because of his faith and views against illegal immigration. Tony asked Beckwith about his recent appearance on Ft Wayne’s WOWO, and allowed Beckwith to clarify his stance on how we should handle the migrant crisis in the Hoosier state. The discussion then became spirited when Tony criticized the campaign of not doing more to court voters. There seems to be less mailers, less getting out the vote during this cycle than previous elections. As Braun said during his interview with Tony earlier last week, the biggest threat to the campaign is complacency.

Beckwith disagreed that he’s been complacent.

Beckwith:

Every day I’m somewhere in the state and there’s excitement, there’s people who are saying we’re going to get out the vote. We’re going to let our voices be heard… I’ve been talking to grassroots conservatives and grassroots Republicans to get out the vote… I’m shaking hands, I’m talking to voters personally. So, I’m not doing the big, you know, multi $1,000,000 TV ads. I’m going to voters individually and saying, “Hey, what can I do for you?” What’s going on in your communities and how can we the Republican Party partner with you to move down the field.

Tony’s criticism to Micah, is that he needed to do more to reach out to those in the Republican party that aren’t fans of him.
