In a surprising turn during her recent interview on CBS’s “60 Minutes,” Vice President Kamala Harris acknowledged her ownership of a Glock handgun, raising eyebrows among conservatives.

Conservative commentators quickly seized on Harris’s comments, arguing that they reveal hypocrisy in her approach to gun legislation. “If she truly believes in the Second Amendment, why push for regulations that restrict responsible gun owners?” questioned a prominent conservative analyst.

As the national conversation about firearms and safety evolves, Harris’s remarks may play a significant role in shaping public perception and political discourse, particularly among conservative audiences who view her statements with a cynical eye.

Cam Edwards from Bearing Arms joined Tony Katz Today to talk about the 60 minutes interview with Harris. How could she own a gun in California that may not be allowed for California citizens to have? To the surprise of many, 60 Minutes actually asked some challenging questions to the Vice President, but failed to ask important ones when Harris revealed that she owned a Glock.

Cam Edwards:

Well, my immediate reaction was disgust at the lack of follow up from who was Bill Whitaker at CBS News. The most obvious question is, OK, what kind of Glock? When you know, it’s kind of like asking what kind of car do you drive? Do you say a Ford? OK, Is it a Taurus? Is it a Mustang? What is it? Kamala Harris didn’t say. But as you point out. You know California has this weird roster of handguns deemed not unsafe for sale, right? And Glocks are not on that roster because they lack some of the requirements that California mandates, including an unloaded chamber mechanism or loaded chamber indicator and micro stamping, right? Which Kamala Harris approved of so you can get Gen. 3 Glocks. They were sort of grandfathered in because they were around before this roster went into effect. But Gen. 4, Gen. 5 Glocks are not available for sale to the general public. Kamala Harris might have qualified because of her law enforcement background. As you say, she was a prosecutor. She was the District Attorney in San Francisco. She was the attorney general of California. But it is a legitimate question to ask. OK, so what did you buy? The gun Did you buy that gun before 2005? Because in 2005, Kamala Harris was in favor of a handgun ban in San Francisco that would have required existing owners to turn those guns over to the city. Did she buy this gun before 2007, when she argued that DC’s ban on handguns should be upheld at the Supreme Court should not recognize an individual right to keep and bear arms. When did you buy the gun? And you know, was it on the roster at the time was before this roster came about. These are all legitimate questions you could also ask about Kamala Harris owning a Glock when the Biden administration is alleged to be colluding with the city of Chicago to go after the Glock.
