OWEN COUNTY, Ind. — Police say more than 340 animals have been rescued from a property in Owen County, and two people are now facing charges.
Officers searched the property with the help of a veterinarian. There, they apparently found a variety of animals without food and/or water, as well as some that had died before they could be rescued.
The Owen County Humane Society notes that the rescued animals included dogs, ducks, chickens, sheep, rabbits, goats, horses, pigs, cows, lizards, and cats.

Due to the large number of animals in need of care, other organizations around the state have agreed to help, including Oinking Acres in Brownsburg and Jenkins Forever Farm in Edinburgh.
Cody Wood and Amanda Simpson are charged with animal cruelty. Simpson has also been charged with failure to properly dispose of a dead animal.
Court records indicate that Simpson was also charged with two felony counts of neglect of a dependent last July, and she and Wood might have been part of a lawsuit involving multiple minors last August.
The two are scheduled to appear before a jury on January 21st, 2025.
