EVANSVILLE, IND — The National Weather Service says an EF-1 tornado hit Vanderburgh and Warrick Counties Tuesday night.
The Paducah office reported the same storm affected both areas while assessing the damage on Wednesday.
The tornado had winds reaching 110 mph, causing damage in eastern Vanderburgh and western Warrick Counties.
“For an EF1 tornado, we’ll look at wind speeds of 86-100 miles an hour,” says Allen Diegan with the National Weather Service. An EF2 is 111-135 miles an hour.”
The National Weather Service says 49 tornadoes have occurred in the state this year, compared to 54 tornadoes last year.
“Make you have multiple ways to receive weather warnings,” Diegan added. “That includes cell phones, radio, weather, TV, etc.”
