INDIANAPOLIS — The victim of Thursday’s fatal shooting on the northeast side of Indianapolis was a community leader and anti-violence activist.

Family and friends of Ron Gee confirmed to Indianapolis media Thursday afternoon that he is the man that was found dead by gunshot inside of a car at a gas station near 38th Street and Arlington Avenue. The shooting happened around 11 o’clock in the morning.

Ron Gee is the founder of Cease Fire Indy, a local community group focused on preventing violence throughout Indianapolis.

Police are still looking for a suspect.

“We are asking if you witnessed anything, if you saw anything, please reach out to our homicide detectives or you can reach out to Crime Stoppers anonymously at 262-TIPS,” said Indy Metro Police Officer Amanda Hibschman Thursday, “any instance of violence in our community. Many lives are impacted by this, the community is impacted by this. We have to do better. Our community has to do better.”
