INDIANAPOLIS — The Marion County Prosecutor has charged Brenen Mosley in the Nov. 29 shooting death of his girlfriend, 20-year-old Autumn Garay.

Mosley, 19, is charged with murder and criminal confinement.

Garay was shot and killed inside Mosley’s apartment on East Westfield Boulevard.

When officers arrived at Mosley’s apartment, Mosley was outside his apartment, bleeding from his head. He told officers that he accidentally shot his girlfriend and then shot himself.

Police found Garay inside the front room, suffering from a gunshot wound. A gun and two cell phones were found nearby. Garay died at the scene.

Police believe Mosley didn’t call 911 after the shooting, but rather, called a family member who instructed another to call 911 to get help for Garay.

According to court papers, Mosley was inconsistent in his version of events that led up to the shooting and, in one instance, even claimed that Garay shot herself.

During an interview with investigators, Mosley said there was a disagreement between himself and Garay before the shooting and that during this argument, he grabbed the gun and blocked her from leaving the apartment.

According to Marion Co. Prosecutor Ryan Mears, investigators believe Mosley then shot Garay and later shot himself.
