WHITESTOWN, Ind. — A man in Whitestown was saved by two passersby on Saturday when they saw his house was on fire.

Flames were shooting out the top of the house a little after 11:oo Saturday night, according to Whitestown Fire Chief Josh Westrich.

He says it looked like the man inside had tried to get out himself, but came up short. The man trapped inside was lucky two people walking nearby saw they flames.

While the homeowner’s wife called 911, they ran into the house and got the him out.

Westrich says the man has second and third-degree burns, but he’s alive and recovering at Eskenazi in Indy. There’s no word what caused the fire.
