Former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie called President Donald Trump’s legal team a “national embarrassment” Sunday during an appearance on ABC’s “This Week.”

Asked by host George Stephanopoulos whether it was time for Trump’s legal fight to end and for the White House to begin the process of transition with the Biden team, Christie, a member of President Trump’s 2016 transition team, said: “Yes.”

“The president has had the opportunity to access the courts … if you’ve got the evidence of fraud, present it,” Christie said. “The legal team has been a national embarrassment.”

Christie also criticized former federal prosecutor and Trump attorney Sidney Powell for accusing Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp of a “crime,” despite the former federal prosecutor’s unwillingness to present credible evidence to substantiate her charge.

“This is outrageous conduct by any lawyer,” Christie said. “They allege fraud outside the courtroom but when they go inside the courtroom they don’t plead fraud and they don’t argue fraud.”

Christie stated that he voted for the President in 2016 and 2020, but noted that “elections have consequences.”

“We cannot continue to act as if something happened here that didn’t happen. You have an obligation to present the evidence,” Chris said. “The evidence has not been presented. And you must conclude – as Tucker Carlson even concluded the other night – that if you’re unwilling to come forward and present the evidence, it must mean the evidence doesn’t exist.”

Christie joins a growing group of Republicans and long-time Trump supporters who have called on the President to concede the election and begin the process of transition with the Biden team.

WIBC host Tony Katz criticized former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie Monday for comments:

“Why even bother going down this road? What’s the point, Chris Christie? What’s the point of Mitt Romney attacking the President? What’s the end game?

“The purpose of saying ‘national embarrassment’ is to put forth the idea that no election should be challenged. After that comment, Christie had a very rational and reasoned conversation, but he ruined that conversation.

“Yes, you have to argue the case in front of a judge, and Sydney Powell said she’s going to be filing in several states this week. But yes, she did appear on Newsmax, and she essentially accused the Governor of Georgia of taking a bribe regarding Dominion voting systems, and that’s the voting system that was used in some of the states that are accused of changing votes from Trump to Biden.

“Now, the people who run Dominion want to claim that their system is not capable of doing that and it is totally secure – well, just stop it. No one is going to believe you, okay? There is a reason that the Demonion system isn’t used in Texas: it’s too easy to hack. And that makes you wonder why other states used it.

“So Chris Christie made a mistake in attacking Trump’s legal challenge, and Sydney Powell made a mistake in accusing the Governor of Georgia of taking a bride. She made an error, and the Trump legal team responded to that error by releasing a statement that she is not a member of the Trump legal team.

“But Trump’s team is making some pretty bold claims, including claiming that they have the ballots. Are they lying? At some point, you have to present the evidence, because it’s about the security of our elections and it’s about the credibility of the claims.”
