INDIANAPOLIS — The Indianapolis Zoo’s new baby giraffe is still nameless, and they need your help naming him.

Zookeepers have selected three potential names and the one that receives the most votes on Facebook will become the calf’s name.

The choices are:

  • Kendi, an African name that means “loved one”
  • Tumaini, a Swahili word meaning “hope”
  • Zane, an African name that means “noble”

The polls opened today and will be open until noon Friday, Dec. 4.

If you want to vote, you can vote once per day, and one person will be chosen at random to get an Indianapolis Zoo prize pack, with four Zoo admission passes and a giraffe plush.

The baby giraffe was born on Nov. 8 and is already 6 feet tall.

The giraffes spend much of the winter inside but will be back out during the spring.
