TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind.–A traffic stop that began in Tippecanoe County went across multiple counties and ended with three people arrested on drug-related charges Monday night.

State police say one of their troopers tried to stop a 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe that was going over the speed limit on southbound I-65 near the 173-mile marker. The driver of the Santa Fe was has been identified as Tyrone Burns, 22, of Harvey, Illinois.

Police say Burns kept speeding away from police and a Thorntown police officer deployed a tire deflation device, but Burns drove into a median made a U-turn onto northbound I-65 to avoid the device.

Lafayette police officers used a tire deflation device at the 153-mile marker and police say Burns hit that one, which caused the front left tire to deflate. Burns eventually stopped at the 157-mile marker.

Investigators say one of the passengers got out of the car and tried to run away, but was quickly caught and arrested. Burns and another passenger were arrested as well.

When police searched the Santa Fe, they say they found marijuana, an unknown white substance, and $780 in counterfeit money.

All three people were taken to the Clinton County Jail on multiple felony and misdemeanor charges.

The other arrested passengers have been identified as the following:

-Tyrese Hill, 18, of Chicago, Illinois

-Heaven Johnson, 19, of Indianapolis, Indiana
