CARMEL, Ind. (WISH) — The City of Carmel is closing Carmel City Hall and its Household Hazardous Waste Site for at least two weeks due to an increase in positive COVID-19 cases among city employees, according to city officials.
Carmel Mayor Jim Brainard made the announcement Friday, saying the facilities will be closed through Friday, Nov. 20.
All city services will be available to the public, just remotely. According to a news release sent to News 8, all city employees will work from home as much as possible.
“As always, the safety of our employees and our residents is our top priority,” said Brainard in the release. “We will continue to do all that we can to prevent the spread of this virus while we await a vaccine.”
The decision to close was made after four city employees who work at Carmel City Hall tested positive for COVID-19.
