CNN commentator Van Jones said Wednesday morning that “a lot of Democrats are hurt” over the tight race between President Donald Trump and Democratic nominee Joe Biden.

“I think a lot of Democrats are hurt tonight,” Jones said during CNN’s election night coverage. “We wanted to see a repudiation of this direction for the country. And the fact that it’s this close, I think … it hurts. It just hurts.”

“There’s the moral victory, and there’s the political victory,” Jones continued. “They are not the same. The Democratic political victory might still come. But I believe people wanted a moral victory tonight.”

Jones’ Wednesday comments contrast sharply with his praise of the President last month when the former Obama official stated that Trump “doesn’t get enough credit” for what he has done for the Black community during his first term in office.

“I think it’s really unfortunate because Donald Trump, and I get beat up by liberals every time I say it but I keep saying it, he has done good stuff for the Black community,” Jones CNN’s Jake Tapper in October. “Opportunity Zone stuff, Black college stuff, I worked with him on criminal stuff, I saw Donald Trump have African American people, formally incarcerated, in the White House, embraced them, treated them well. There is a side to Donald Trump that I think he does not get enough credit for.”

WIBC’s host Tony Katz told listeners Thursday morning that the Democrat party not ‘hurt’ – they are frustrated because they want to destroy the political right.

Katz:

“Democrats don’t want to unify the country and they don’t want to work with the political right – they want to destroy the political right; these are the facts. And what is driving them crazy is that Black voters and Latino voters can make up their own mind.

“Black women made up 7% of the electorate and 8% of them voted for Trump. Black men make up 5% of the electorate and 18% of them voted for Trump. Latino men make up 6% of the electorate and 36% of them voted for Trump. And Latino women make up 8% of the electorate and 28% of them voted for Trump. As a result, the left is absolutely apoplectic.

“The left is not interested in anything but destroying the political right and pushing an ideological agenda that is about the dismantling of the country.”
