(INDIANAPOLIS) — Indy is setting up a permanent online job fair to get people back to work quickly.

The new “Rapid Re-employment” job-match service on the EmployIndy website will have a quick login process to confirm you have a high school diploma and to upload your resume. Then it’ll try to match you with openings. The site will also connect job seekers with training opportunities.

Many employers are still cutting jobs, not adding them, but Indy Chamber president Michael Huber says some sectors are growing, including marketing, health care, e-commerce and logistics, and those

companies need skilled workers.

The portal will post only jobs which pay at least 13 dollars an hour. Huber says it’ll need strong

participation from both employers and job hunters.

Indy had 120,000 new unemployment claims in the three months after the pandemic hit.

Unemployment last month was down to 9.6%, but that’s still about two points above the

statewide rate.
