CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. — A Crawfordsville man has been charged with the murder of his wife after her severed head was found buried in a cellar.

Police say Hope Parks’ headless body was found by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office on the Sugar Creek Bridge on August 20.

While police were investigating, Michael Parks, her husband, showed up at the Crawfordsville Police Department to say Hope had been missing since August 18. He said she left with someone after they had an argument. He didn’t say who the person was.

Parks let police search his home, and police found dried blood in the driveway and garage. After getting a search warrant they found Hope’s severed head in the cellar and a rifle in the yard with more blood.

A medical examination revealed that Hope Parks was shot in the back of the head.

Parks’ first court appearance is Tuesday at 11 a.m.
