INDIANAPOLIS — A man is dead after he walked into a south side convenience store, fired shots and set the building on fire Friday night.

Police were called to the Marathon gas station at the intersection of Bluff and Southport around 11:05 p.m. When they arrived, officers found the convenience store was up in flames.

After the Indianapolis Fire Department put out the fire, SWAT officers were called to the scene to try and find the shooter. They eventually found him inside the store, dead from what they believe to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Police are still unsure why the man walked into the store and started shooting. No one else was injured.

The investigation is ongoing.
