NOBLESVILLE, Ind.–A person at Noblesville High School has tested positive for coronavirus.

Noblesville school leaders say that person has not attended school but was recently at an “athletic practice.” They did not say whether that person was a student, teacher, or staff member.

All parents and staff members have been made aware of the positive test result. Those who were exposed to that person have been sent home.

New procedures at the schools in Noblesville include health monitoring, social distancing, and students being grouped in a way to support contact tracing and containment when there is a confirmed case of coronavirus.

A staff member at Terre Haute South Vigo High School has also tested positive for coronavirus. The administration says that person was on school grounds during their infectious period. Contact tracers have identified and quarantined those who came in close contact with the staff member.

A staff member at Honey Creek Middle School also tested positive for the virus.

The Vigo County School Corporation has already pushed back the start of their school year by one week, with students scheduled to attend classes beginning August 18.

The school year began August 3 for Noblesville Schools. They have given students the option to either attend school in-person or participate in online learning.
