INDIANAPOLIS — Rumors of a plan to cancel or postpone the high school and middle fall sports seasons in Marion County are unfounded for now.

School Superintendents throughout the county and the Marion County Health Department discussed the possibility of such a plan Wednesday afternoon. Decatur Township Superintendent Dr. Matthew J. Prusiecki confirmed that the fall sports season in Marion County is still on as planned.

“Marion County Board of Health will delay any decision to be under review over the next 2-3 weeks,” Prusiecki said. “We are status quo.”

“The Marion County Health Department is still in the process of reviewing the status high school and middle school sports,” the township added on Twitter. “No determination has been made in terms of canceling or postponing at this time.”

It had been rumored that the Marion County Health Department was planning to suspend football, volleyball, and soccer until October 1.
