EDINBURGH, Ind.–A reckless driver caused a crash that killed a person in Johnson County Tuesday night, according to Indiana State Police.

Investigators say a white Chevrolet Cobalt was weaving in and out of traffic while speeding on I-65 southbound and giving “hand gestures to other drivers.” They say the Cobalt later pulled in front of the pickup truck and braked suddenly, forcing the driver of the pickup truck to swerve and get hit by a semi.

Once the semi hit the pick-up, it caused the pickup to hit a guardrail and overturn into a ditch. Other drivers who saw the wreck helped the driver of the pick-up get out of the wreckage and performed CPR.

Despite life-saving efforts, the pick-up driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the semi was not hurt.

Police don’t believe the driver of the pickup or semi was impaired while driving.

The deceased driver of the pickup has been identified as Mark Raub, 72, of Nashville.

State police are asking anyone who may have been traveling in the area of I-65 between Indianapolis and Columbus between 8:00 and 8:45 pm Tuesday, who has a vehicle equipped with a dash camera to see if they have footage of the white Cobalt with either Illinois or Kentucky license plates.

If you have seen the Cobalt, you should State Police at 317-899-8577.
