INDIANAPOLIS — Police say a man died after a shooting on the city’s northwest side just after midnight Sunday.

According to Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Officer Michael Hewitt, officers were called to a Papa John’s  along Georgetown Road near 38th street and Lafayette Road.

“Homicide detectives responded to the scene and began canvassing the area for witnesses,” Hewitt said. “Detectives believe the shooting was a result of an attempted business robbery.”

When they arrived they found a man who was suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
