INDIANAPOLIS—There will be no additional curfew restrictions in Indianapolis.

Curfews were in place Friday and Saturday night because of the weekend protests in Indianapolis, but that won’t be the case going forward.

Mayor of Indianapolis Joe Hogsett released the following statement:

Indy residents— There are no current plans for additional curfew restrictions. Thank you to the record-breaking number of individuals who lifted their voices in peaceful advocacy this weekend and to the law enforcement who helped keep large crowds safe on busy streets.

Thousands of people took part in the weekend’s protests, where people voiced their frustration over police brutality, the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis, and violence against the black community, among other things.

Saturday’s curfew went into effect at 8 pm. Many protesters stayed until a little after 10, but they were peaceful.
