NOBLESVILLE, Ind. (WISH) — The victim in a fatal Hamilton County hit-and-run has been identified and a suspect in the case has been arrested.

According to Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, Alice Chamblin, 70, of Cicero, was fatally struck by a truck around 4:18 p.m. Tuesday in rural Hamilton County. The crash happened in the area of 226th Street and Anthony Road, just west of Cicero. That’s about 2 miles northwest of the northwestern border of Noblesville.

Bystanders attempted to render aid to Chamblin immediately after the crash, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities say Chamblin was walking with a family member just before the crash. That family member and another witness said a truck had crossed from the northbound lane of travel, into the southbound lane and hit Chamblin. The driver continued north and fled the scene.

Investigators determined the suspect vehicle was a silver/gray 1997-2003-model Ford F-150 with a tinted rear window.

“Through the generous help from our social media followers, local news and our local communities, tips and leads began to come into our office,” said Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office public information officer Ryan McClain in a press release sent to News 8.

Tips and leads led authorities to the town of Tipton in neighboring Tipton County. There, authorities located a damaged truck matching the description of the suspect vehicle in Chamblin’s death. Daniel L. Sullivan was arrested for his alleged involvement in the crime. He has been arrested for suspicion of leaving the scene of a crash causing death.

Sullivan is currently being held at the Hamilton County Jail.
