An Idaho mother who was arrested at a playground that was closed under stay-at-home orders during the coronavirus pandemic used her children as bait in hopes of garnering national attention and making a political statement, according to Fox News.

40-year-old Sara Brady, an anti-vaccine activist with connections to far-right organizations, was captured on video telling an officer to arrest her as she participated in a smaller planned protest at the park with a group of people and her two children nearby, according to reports.

“Arrest me for being difficult. Do it! Record it!,” is heard saying. Police gave her a count of five to leave, according to Boise’s KTVB.

Police said protestors ignored metal signage and caution tape at the park and they “observed numerous individuals gathered on the closed playground area.”

“Meridian officers made several attempts to help BRADY adhere to the rules,” police said in a statement. “She was non-compliant and forced officers to place her under arrest to resolve the issue. She was arrested for trespassing.”

Her arrest later prompted roughly 100 people to demonstrate in front of Meridian City Hall.

WIBC’s Tony Katz commented on Brady’s political “stunt” Friday morning:

“We know people have been chased out of parks and there’s merit to protesting. But using your kids as bait and a shield? Yeah, I’m out. You wanna protest? Knock yourself out, but leave your kids out of it. It’s gross. When you use your kids as bait and a shield, I have no time for you.”
