This is your friendly reminder that westbound I-70 from I-465 to the north split closed Friday morning at midnight, meaning if you’re one of the few who must cross our realized Mad Max post-apocalyptic fantasy full of half naked raiders and zombie dogs, then you’ll need an alternative to I-70 in order to commute into what’s left of City-IN46202, formally known as Indianapolis, locally known as the “circle wasteland.”
Remember, in lieu of the American dollar, the only currency accepted is toilet paper and hand sanitizer. And now eggs.
The closure runs from Friday, April 24th to Sunday, May 24th – or for 30-days – and was supposed to start Thursday (hence the professionally crafted map revisions). But weather happens, right?
Like the eastbound I-70 closure currently in play, bridge and asphalt work is on the agenda. Keep in mind, with westbound I-70 now shutdown, BOTH directions of I-70 are closed from the north split to I-465 for a total of 19-days.
Eastbound I-70 is scheduled to open May 13th, and westbound I-70 is scheduled to reopen on May 24th. The I-70 construction period was originally scheduled for late May through early September, but INDOT expedited the project because of lighter traffic volume.
