COLUMBUS, Ind. — A Columbus man is in jail after leading police on a short chase Monday afternoon.

Robin Ransom, 48, of Columbus, was pulled over near 4th and Brown Streets in Columbus for multiple outstanding warrants.

A short time later, Ransom sped away from the officer and went through multiple traffic lights in an attempt to escape. He headed west on State Road 46 and was attempting to get on I-65 when he lost control and slammed into a concrete barrier wall.

Ransom was found hiding in some shrubbery near the scene of the crash and was arrested.

A passenger in Ransom’s SUV, Anthony Brown, 26, of Columbus, was found outside after the crash and arrested.

Both men were taken to the hospital and checked out. After being discharged from the hospital, they were taken to the Bartholomew County Jail.

Brown is charged with possession of marijuana.

Ransom faces multiple charges, including resisting law enforcement and reckless driving.
