VEVAY, Ind.— Six people died in a fire in the Switzerland County town of Vevay early Saturday morning, said Indiana State Police.

After the 911 call came in around 3 a.m. several fire departments responded and found the two-story house already fully engulfed.

Investigators from the state fire marshal‘s office said that one man was able to escape from the fire and was not hurt, but that six bodies were found inside.

The identities of the people who were killed were not given out Saturday evening. Autopsies were scheduled for Sunday in Madison.

Investigators had not determined the cause or origin of the fire.
