INDIANAPOLIS — The next time you visit Kroger, you might notice a few changes.

Kroger is taking additional steps to protect workers and customers during the coronavirus pandemic.

The Ohio-based grocery chain says it is asking the government for help getting protective masks and gloves for its workers.

Kroger will soon begin installing plexiglass partitions at many cash registers, to promote social distancing. The barriers will be placed at checkout lanes, pharmacy counters, and Starbucks registers.

The grocery chain will also install floor decals to help shoppers practice social distancing at checklanes and other counters.

“These and other recently announced steps will help Kroger ensure the safety of associates and help our communities flatten the curve while at the same time meeting our obligation to be there for our customers,” the company said in a statement.
