INDIANAPOLIS — It’s been a busy month for the Indiana High School Athletic Association and Commissioner Bobby Cox, who will be retiring this summer.

On Friday morning, the IHSAA named his replacement — Paul Neidig.

Neidig has been with the IHSAA since 2017, as an assistant commissioner, overseeing the sports of cross country, track and field, and boys basketball.

“I’m proud to be a part of this organization,” Neidig said in a video released by the IHSAA. “I’m also proud to lead it into the next generation.”

Before working for the IHSAA, Neidig spent 31 years in the Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation, mostly as a teacher, a coach, and an athletic director.

“Our primary focus is going to be continuing to support and promote education-based athletics across our state,” he said. “Kids deserve a place to play. We must provide that place to play, and we must protect that place to play. That’s what we do, and that’s what we will continue to do.”

Neidig will take over as commissioner on August 1.
