(INDIANAPOLIS) – Eskenazi Hospital is banning most visitors, to protect patients from coronavirus:

Eskenazi was already limiting patients to two visitors as part of its precautions against flu. Now the hospital is banning them entirely, with a few exceptions.

Fathers can still accompany new mothers having babies delivered, and the hospital will still allow two visitors to say goodbye to terminal patients. And chief nursing officer Lee Ann Blue says patients in the ER probably have someone who drove them there.

As with the flu policy, any visitors who are allowed in will be screened for symptoms of illness.

Blue says there’s no way to tell how long the tightened restrictions will last. She calls the coronavirus pandemic unprecedented in her 30 years in nursing.
