INDIANAPOLIS — A 20-year-old cold case in Indianapolis has been solved.
William Swain has been charged for the 2000 murder of Arthur McPhaul. Marion County Prosecutor Ryan Mears said Swain was named a suspect in 2019, thanks to a DNA match. Now, he’s facing murder and other charges.
McPhaul’s body was found in a hotel room on Keystone Avenue on October 19, 2000, with duct tape around his wrist and a phone cord wrapped around his ankle.
Swain’s nail scrapings were found on McPhaul’s neck.
