INDIANAPOLIS — The gun violence continues in the capital city.
Indy Metro Police was called to South Sherman Drive, just south of East Washington Street on Thursday around 5:30 p.m. When officers arrived, they found a 26-year-old man shot. He was taken to a hospital, where he later died. A couple of miles away, a person was shot near Community Hospital East, around 4 a.m. IMPD said Friday morning that person was in stable condition.
IMPD Public Information Officer Aaron Hamer does not believe the two shootings are connected, although the investigations continue.
A couple hours later, just after 6:30 Friday morning, another person was shot just south of the State Fairgrounds. IMPD said the person was taken to a hospital in critical condition.
Hamer says 24 people have been murdered in Indy already this year.
