A Brownsburg teacher was forced to resign from his position after refusing to call a transgender student by their new name. Instead, he elected to call each student by their last name, so he could avoid the controversy. Brownsburg High School stepped in and said teachers are required to call students by their preferred names. The teacher felt that by acknowledging the transgender student’s new name, he was “encouraging a dangerous lifestyle.”

Rob Kendall is the unofficial mayor of Brownsburg. He joins Hammer and Nigel to unravel this whole situation. Rob argues that the teacher is treating every student equally by calling everyone by their last name.

“As long as you teach me and grade me fairly, then I don’t care what you call me.”

Nigel argues that a teacher should leave the “lifestyle” to the parents.

“I don’t want my teachers infecting my kids with liberal, anti-Trump agendas, but I also don’t want my teacher worrying about my kid’s lifestyle.”
