ELKHART, Ind. — Counterfeit cash is causing problems for Elkhart police.

Officers have taken more than 10 reports of “funny money” in the last 30 days, reports WNDU-TV

Bogus bills have also been reported in Nappanee and Goshen.

Police are asking people in the area to take a good look at their cash make sure it’s real, legal tender.

A quick way to check your money is to hold the bill up to a light and search for color-shifting ink, watermarks, embedded security strips, and microprinting. If any of those security measures is missing, the bill is bogus. Check out more tips on identifying funny money here

If you receive any counterfeit money, report it to the police.
