INDIANAPOLIS— An arrest warrant has been issued for a suspect in a hit-and-run crash that killed a woman on a bicycle near the University of Indianapolis.

IMPD has issued that warrant for 20-year-old Omar Lopez.

The victim was Annastaisha Leslie Sandlin. Last Friday, she was on a bicycle when she was hit by a small silver SUV. That SUV went southbound and then westbound on National Avenue.

The SUV was later found abandoned at the intersection of Madison and Bacon.

Scott Harris, a military veteran who is also a videographer and bike messenger, says he was driving in the area when the silver Ford Escape pulled out in front of him and swerved into the bike lane, striking Sandlin.

When Harris noticed the SUV was not stopping, he followed it for several minutes until he saw a man get out and abandon the vehicle at Madison and Bacon.

Lopez is charged with leaving the scene of an accident causing death to a person.

If you have any information on Lopez’s whereabouts, be sure to call Detective Olson at 317-327-6557. If you wish to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at 317-262-TIPS (8477).
